Peak District Explorer: A Drive of Unmatched Beauty

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Peak District! From the legendary Cat & Fiddle Inn, our voyage will take us across the captivating southern landscape of the Peak District, meandering through the quaint town of Bakewell, before a much-needed lunch break at the charming Barrell Inn. We end our day of exploration near the M57 for a hassle-free journey home. Here's your itinerary!

Meeting Point: MacDonalds, Macclesfield (9:30 AM)

Our day starts at MacDonalds in Macclesfield.  This would normally be The Cat & Fiddle Inn, the second-highest pub in England, famous for its panoramic views of the Peak District. After a quick driver's briefing and a steaming cup of coffee, we'll start our engines and head off on our adventure!

Navigating the Southern Peaks (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Immerse yourself in the raw beauty of the southern Peak District. We'll venture along the well-known Cat and Fiddle Road, renowned for its sharp bends and stunning vistas. We'll weave through charming villages such as Longnor and Hartington, culminating in the delightful market town of Bakewell.

Refuelling at The Barrell Inn, Bretton (12:30 PM - 2:30 PM)

We'll proceed to The Barrell Inn (The Barrel Inn – The Barrel Inn), where we'll enjoy a leisurely lunch. This country inn is the perfect setting to unwind, offering delicious fare and panoramic views of the Peaks. Refuel and prepare for the afternoon's exhilarating drive.  Lunch will be booked and paid for on the day so no need to complete pre-order for this day.

The Challenge of Winnats Pass (2:30 PM - 4:30 PM)

Post-lunch, we'll head to the dramatic Winnats Pass. This road, flanked by steep, rugged limestone cliffs, offers a truly unique driving experience. Embrace the thrill of navigating this challenging road, surrounded by the Peak District's most spectacular landscapes.

Leaving Winnats Pass behind, we'll travel through Buxton, known as the "Gateway to the Peak District". Take in the town's beautiful architecture, from the stunning Opera House to the historic Crescent. Next, we'll head to Chapel-en-le-Frith, the "Capital of the Peak", where ancient buildings echo the area's rich history.

Wrapping Up near the M57 (4:30 PM)

As the day winds down, we'll head towards our finish point near the M57, providing an easy route home. Swap photos and stories of the day's drive with your fellow explorers before bidding farewell.
